Dr. Carissa Palacios
PT, DPT
Physical Therapist – Kingsville Clinic
I am from Premont, Tx, about an hour south of Corpus Christi. I graduated from Texas A&M University – Kingsville with my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, then went on to PT school at Baylor University. My fiancé and I are planning on settling in Corpus Christi to be closer to our friends and family.
I am a new grad physical therapist, and I am excited to learn more in the field! My past experiences include outpatient orthopedic rotations with Select Medical in the Woodlands, Memorial Hermann Rocket Sports Medicine Institute, and inpatient experiences at Houston Methodist at the Medical Center. I saw a variety of conditions including Parkinson’s disease, lymphedema, breast cancer rehabilitation, various sports-related orthopedic conditions, and more.
Favorite Quote:
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9
I feel that, especially here in South Texas, patients are sometimes not educated on their conditions which can leave them feeling as though they have little autonomy in decisions regarding their care. I want to be a clinician who thoroughly educates patients so they can make informed decisions about their treatment and actively participate in their care. I believe the best outcomes come from a collaborative approach in which patients and clinicians work together to create treatment plans that align with the patient’s needs, goals, and values.
Here at Avila Physical Therapy, I have found that everyone strives to keep a collaborative atmosphere (which I adore). This place offers plenty of opportunity for personal and professional growth. I also love getting to see patients make progress every single day!
