Dr. John Lerma

PT, DPT

Physical Therapist / Kingsville Clinic

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. I went to W.B. Ray High School and discovered my passion for physical therapy as a student-athlete with my fair share of injuries (Football/Powerlifting make for great learning experiences). I went on to attend Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Pre-Physical Therapy specialization. From there, I attended The University of Texas at El Paso, where I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (Picks up C/O 2024!)

I worked for quite some time as a physical therapy technician before beginning the DPT program at UT El Paso, studying and learning as much as possible along the way! After earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, I am now a licensed physical therapist.

The values that drive me are Faith, Compassion, Integrity, Kindness, Family, and Growth. I believe that I am a constant work in progress as long as I constantly work to progress!

Favorite Quote:

“Stronger than yesterday, weaker than tomorrow”

I am a physical therapist, and although I currently have no specialties, I have a tremendous interest in obtaining my OCS (Orthopedic Clinic Specialist) as well as dry needling!

Patients often face a great deal of pain, frustration, and uncertainty about their condition, which I strive to address through high-quality, patient-centered care and patient education. I want to get patients back to doing the things that matter most to them!

What drew me to Avila Physical Therapy is its mission and core values. The culture cultivated within the company is one that fosters success and encourages growth both professionally and personally. They are passionate about the profession and the communities they serve!
